Stories of Transformation
Every former seminarian has a unique story. At Laici Mission, we honor their journeys—through struggle, hope, and renewal.
Paul
From Lost Dreams to Livelihood
After leaving the seminary, Paul felt like his life had hit a wall. But through Laici Mission's vocational training, he started poultry farming. Today, he supports his family and mentors others.
After leaving the seminary, Paul felt like his life had hit a wall. "I had no job, no income, and I kept wondering if all those years of formation were wasted," he shares. The transition was emotionally and financially painful; until he discovered Laici Mission. Through Laici Mission's vocational program, Paul took part in a business skills course and later received a small loan to start poultry farming. With mentorship and encouragement, he slowly built a thriving business. "Today, I provide for my family, employ two others, and I even tithe to my parish," Paul says proudly. "Laici Mission helped me realize that my formation wasn't a waste; it was a foundation. I'm still serving, just in a different way."

Robert
Finding Purpose in Lay Leadership
Robert left seminary devastated. With our support, he now leads youth outreach and catechism at his parish.
Robert had always imagined himself serving the Church as a priest. When he discerned out during his final year of seminary, he was devastated. “It felt like I had failed God,” he says. “I didn’t know how to be Catholic outside the collar.” Laici Mission welcomed him with open arms. Through leadership training, spiritual formation, and community service opportunities, Robert began to rebuild his confidence and sense of mission. He now coordinates youth outreach events. "Laici Mission taught me that laypeople aren’t second-class disciples,” Robert explains. “We are called to lead, to serve, to inspire; and I’m doing that now, with joy.”

Emmanuel
From Uncertainty to Entrepreneurship
With start-up support, Emmanuel started a grocery shop and now trains local youth in business.
When Emmanuel returned home from seminary, he found himself in a rural village with no job prospects and no clear future. "My parents had sacrificed so much to send me to school. Coming back empty-handed was humiliating," he admits. Then he joined Laici Mission's entrepreneurial development program. There, he learned basic business principles, received start-up capital, and launched a grocery shop. Today, Emmanuel not only supports himself but also trains other young people in his community. "Laici Mission didn't just give me skills; they gave me hope," he says. "Now, instead of being seen as a disappointment, I'm someone my village looks up to."

Peter
Embracing Marriage and Family with Faith
Through counseling and retreats, Peter transitioned into married life and now leads men's fellowship.
Peter left the seminary after realizing his calling was to marriage and fatherhood. But adjusting to lay life wasn't easy. "I had no idea how to date, much less build a Catholic family," he says with a laugh. Through Laici Mission's family life program, Peter attended retreats, spiritual counseling, and marriage preparation workshops. Today, he's married with a daughter and leads a local men's fellowship group. "Laici Mission helped me understand that my vocation didn't end when I left the seminary; it just changed direction," he reflects. "I'm living out my call to holiness as a husband and father, and I've never been more fulfilled."
